The Manchester Contemporary November, 2023
vereda tropical - saberes ancestrales
We are pleased to present the latest iteration of Vereda Tropical, a cross-cultural project which aims to forge connections between the UK and Latin American contemporary art scenes and to act as a catalyst for shared narratives. Taking part in this year's edition of The Manchester Contemporary 2023, Vereda Tropical brings together two artistic initiatives: Saberes Ancestrales from Venezuela and Y.ES Contemporary from El Salvador.
Saberes Ancestrales is an ongoing project which investigates Venezuelan identity in order to preserve its culture and traditions. Gabriel Pinto's Diablos Danzantes de Naiguatá (2023) and Santiago Méndez's Diablos Danzantes de Yare - Corpus Christi (2022) pay homage to the bearers of the ancestral memory of Venezuela and affirms Venezuelan identity and the structures of its social fabric as it is passed from generation to generation.

About Saberes Ancestrales
El Centro de Investigación de Saberes Ancestrales is a project that promotes research on traditional Venezuelan manifestations for the protection and dissemination of our national heritage.
We design and produce projects that both strengthen and give visibility to different cultural expressions, such as cultural encounters, visual and audiovisual work, sound, and text. Through these contributions we pay homage to the bearers of the ancestral memory of Venezuela and affirm Venezuelan identity and the structures of its social fabric as it is passed from generation to generation.
The Manchester Contemporary: 17-18-19 November 2023 at Manchester Central.
